Arempee Compressors is a manufacturer of air compressors in India. They were using metallic gaskets to seal the valve plate assembly to cylinder head in top block assembly of the compressors. Metallic gaskets are conventionally used in high temperature conditions. However, metallic gaskets do not create 100% sealing between mating surfaces and are expensive. Arempee Compressors were receiving field complaints of air amd oil leakage. This required frequent visits by their service engineers to attend to the complaints.

Henkel Engineer Provides Solution after Analyzing Process Considerations

A multinational customer manufactures high voltage integral horse power motors of 150 to 3000 HP rating in India. Customer used a rtv silicoone sealant to seal the end shield of the motor. However, the seal failed to perform consistently and failed to withstand IP 65* tests. During a plant survey, Henkel Application Engineer analyzed that the operator takes close to 15 min to dispense the silicone on the flange area, by which time the silicone would have started to skin over this leads to insufficient bonding on the mating flanges and improper sealing.

Meet Performance Expectations under Extreme Conditions

A multinational customer manufacturers constructions and road building machines in India. These machines are exposed to high vibrations, impact and severe operating conditions. In their asphalt compactors they wanted a solutions that would create reliable sealing of the drum assembly under these extreme conditions. The drum assembly also used M16 / M20 bolts that had to be reliably locked under the operating conditions.

Loctite 587 passed all customer tests successfully. With 100% contact between mating flanges it created a reliable and durable seal that did not creep, relax or deteriorate. The gasket cost per assembly was reduced by more than 37%. Customer did not have to maintain inventory of different gaskets as Loctite 587 could be dispensed in required shape and sizes.
