Contractor Chose Loctite Sealants over PTFE Thread Tapes

Sayer Constructions was installing fire hydrants around building sites in Australia. They had previously used PTFE Thread Tapes to seal the treaded pipe joints in the hydrants. However, thread tapes failed to withstand high pressures and water surges typical in hydrant systems. A leading manufacturer of CNC machines used PTFE tapes to seal the threaded joints at the oil filter inlet and outlet manifold. But the PTFE tapes shredded while assembling, some of these shreds get into the system and the customer was receiving field complaints of oil filter being blocked with shreds of PTFE tapes.
