• A multinational customer manufacturing high voltage integral horse power motors of 150 to 3000 HP rating in India

SITUATION

• The end shield of the motor was sealed using silicone sealant

• The seal failed to withstand IP65 test

• Henkel Application Engineer analyzed that the operator takes close to 15 minutes to dispense the silicone on the flange area, by which time the silicone would have started to skin over -> leading to insufficient sealing
