Loctite® RC™ 620 Seals Komatsu Injector Tubes
ChallengeA Komatsu heavy equipment dealer wanted to standardize operations in their engine rebuild department. They had discovered that the same application was being performed in different ways – depending upon which mechanic was doing the work. A Loctite Proactive Maintenance Service Program was scheduled to help put an end to this practice by determining the best product for each particular application. One particular application was the installation of injector tubes most often found on 155 series engines. These tubes seal water from the crankcase and also help prevent antifreeze from getting into the cylinder chambers of the engine and engine oil. At the rebuild department several different methods were being used to install these tubes. Management's goal was to find the best method for installing the injector tubes, and make sure everyone in the department did it the same way. SolutionLoctite® RC 620 is a high temperature, high viscosity retaining compound. It fixtures in 30 minutes at room temperature and provides a sheer strength of 3,000 psi on steel. |
