Loctite® Dispensing Equipment Provides Easy and Precise Application

BPL Compressors, India manufactures Hermetically sealed compressors for refrigerators. BPL were using a competition epoxy to bond and seal PBT suction muffler in the compressor. They were getting 9% rejections due to leakage and parts had to be reworked. In a large production volume these rejections and reworks add significant costs to operation costs.

Customer Also Gains Higher Productivity through Loctite® Dispensing Equipment

Invensys, NSW, Australia makes diastat sensors for in the appliance industry. As the final operation, customer phenolic cap needs to be bonded to steel thermosensor. Customer worked with Henkel Engineer for a solution for this new design. Loctite 4210 High Temperature Instant Adhesive was successfully tested for the application. Loctite Analog Syringe Dispenser 98417 with 30ml Syringe Kits 97244, 97245 was configured to accurately dispense the adhesive. Loctite 7070 ODC Free Cleaner was used to clean the parts prior to bonding.

Allows Step Motors to be Used in Sensitive Semi-Conductor Applications

In some semi-conductor applications the small amount of EMI emitted by step motors disrupted precision instruments. To eliminate the EMI, the stators needed to be grounded to the housings. After extensive testing, Lin Engineering found that Loctite® 3888™ two-part electrically conductive epoxy adhesive was selected as the optimum solution. It completely eliminated the EMI with the added benefit and also structurally reinforced the motor which has allowed Lin Engineering step motors to be used in sensitive semi-conductor applications.

Fast Cure Speed is the Key to Improvements
Grommets, specialty clamps and adhesives are often used to secure the lead wires. Due to the small size of the motor, the grommet or clamp were undesirable. Lin Engineering has to find an optimum method for securing the lead wires. Finally they choose Loctite 352 light cure adhesive for this application. The operator manually dispenses a bead of Loctite 352 over the wire connections on the stator wires using a hand held syringe dispenser; after the adhesive is dispensed, the coated motor assembly is placed on a light cure conveyor where a 30 second exposure to light cures the adhesive. After light cure, the lead wire is fully reinforced and immediately ready for subsequent handling.
