Large Hotel Depends On Loctite® Threadlocker To Keep Doors Operational.

All commercial buildings have doors, and hotels have hundreds of them. Keeping them all fully operational is not an easy task. Every day these heavy metal doors are subject to high use, shock and tension, causing the screws holding the door hardware to come loose. Valuable maintenance time is spent tightening and re-tightening screws, realigning doors and replacing costly hardware. One major hotel chain looked to Loctite® for help.

Thermal Generating Station Eliminates Lengthy Unscheduled Shutdown.

A thermal generating station discovered a hydrogen leak on the split half cover on the bearing pedestal of its generator. The station needed to repair it, but was looking at an unscheduled shutdown of the entire power generation system. The complete tear down to seal the leak would cost them a minimum of two days lost production time.

Prevent Misalignment Problems and Equipment Failures.

Hydropulpers are machines designed to agitate a mixture of paper pulp and water to prevent dewatering until this mix can be used in the papermaking process. These particular hydropulpers are driven by 150 hp motors coupled to right angle gearboxes. Coupled to the output shafts of the gearbox is a large blade which is in the bottom of the hydropulper vat. Due to extreme vibration incurred by the hydropulper, our customer was having problems keeping the mounting bolts for the gearbox tight.

Outperforms Expensive Nylock Nuts, Maintains Clamp Loads under Severe Conditions

Nifty Lifts, Australia makes Hydraulic Lifts used for forestry, mining and construction, used nyloc nuts to prevent vibrational loosening of these bolts but even nyloc nuts failed to retain clamp load over long periods. Bolts had to be checked and re-torqued frequently as any premature failure can result in accidents. Loctite 277 Threadlockers help the customer to solve these problems. Loctite 277 does what nylock nuts can’t - they filll the gap between threads and locks the threads together - creating a unitized assembly that does not loosen under severe vibrations and thermal cycling.

Securely Locks Wheel Nuts on Rebuilt Earthmoving Equipment

For over 20 years LCE had been battling a problem with keeping the spindle nuts which use a 5″ socket and have 3-inch fine threads on the wheel assembly from loosening during service. LCE had tried many different methods, including lock nuts and welding. Finally, they called on Loctite for help. Loctite® 294 is a low viscosity, penetrating threadlocker and is ideally suited for pre-assembled fasteners. It fixtures in 10 minutes, fully cures in 24 hours and has a temperature range of -65° F to +400°F. By incorporating Loctite 294 Threadlocker into their assembly procedure, LCE has not had one single occurence of loosening spindle nuts and cost savings to them is tremendous.
