Loctite® 567 exceeds customer test requirements

Challenge

Sayer Constructions - a leading civil contractor in Australia - was installing fire hydrants around building sites. They had previously used PTFE Thread Tapes to seal the treaded pipe joints in the hydrants. However, thread tapes failed to withstand high pressures and water surges typical in hydrant systems. The workers had difficulties to adjust the pipe position and ‘back-off’ the joints during the assembly as the PTFE tapes shred during this adjustment.

Solution

Loctite thread sealants seal and secure metal pipes and fittings.

Applying liquid these sealants cure to fill the space between threaded metal parts, and prevent leakage.

Designed for low and high pressure applications, the sealants seal instantly for low pressure testing. When fully cured, they seal to the burst strength of most piping systems.

Loctite 567 PST Thread sealant has excellent solvent resistance, allows easy assembly, prevents galling, and can withstands temperatures up to 200 °C.

Excellent for high pressure applications, it locks and seals tapered metal, pipe threads and fittings. Ideal for stainless steel, aluminum, galvanized metal, and other inert metals. Disassembles with hand tools.

Results

Loctite 567 bonds and seals the threads completely to ensure 100% leak proof joints. It withstands high pressure surges, impacts and vibrations. Loctite 567 can seal in any position and can be adjusted during assembly. Loctite 567 contains PTFE that provides controlled lubricity during assembly.
