SITUATION

• Customer used PTFE tape along with competitor’s anaerobic to seal the threads of brass and zinc coated MS end plugs in the tank assembly (oil traces on the female threads) – frequent field complaints of leaks

• Paint peels off near threaded joint are due to spillage of competitor’s sealant

• Disassembly was difficult and damaged the aluminum NRV

LOCTITE® SOLUTIONS

• Loctite® 243 – an oil tolerant, medium strength threadlocker

BENEFITS

• No leakage -> assembly tested @ 12 bar after 40 minutes of application

• No spillage as Loctite® 243 is thixotropic and does not migrate or drip -> No wastage and No paint peel off

• Easy disassembly -> does not damage NRV -> Cost savings as there is no need to replace NRV’s

• PTFE tape is not required -> Low cost of assembly
