Challenge

A thermal generating station discovered a hydrogen leak on the split half cover on the bearing pedestal of its generator. The station needed to repair it, but was looking at an unscheduled shutdown of the entire power generation system. The complete tear down to seal the leak would cost them a minimum of two days lost production time.

Solution

Loctite® 290 is a medium strength threadlocker designed specifically for pre-assembled bolts up to 1/2" (12mm). This wicking grade threadlocker penetrates by capillary action, simplifying preventive maintenance. It is used to seal welds and porous metal parts, and protects threads from rust and corrosion.
